History

The idea of consolidating N. Novgorod nonprofit organizations was conceived in spring 1994 when Eurasia Foundation arranged a seminar for N.Novgorod nonprofits on the topic of NGO management. This was a unique opportunity for organisations to learn about each other, and mutual problems were discovered. It was decided to consolidate their achievements regarding mutual support and advocation of NGO interests at a local level. Sluzhenye was formed in June 1994 and formerly functioned as an informal NGOs Club.

1994

The Nizhny Novgorod NGO Club is set up.

1995

Nizhny Novgorod Association of non-governmental nonprofit organizations “Sluzhenye” is registered.

1996

The first city conference of NGOs “The third sector of Nizhny Novgorod” is organized.

1996

The NGO Support Center for Nizhny Novgorod region is opened.

1997-2000

The bill “About state social contract in Nizhny Novgorod region” is worked out and promoted (became law on December 28, 2000).

1998

The NGO resource centers’ network for Volga-Vyatka region is set up.

1999

Volga-Vyatka region NGOs fair is held “Altogether” is held.

1999-2010

2000

Nizhny Novgorod NGOs fair “Altogether in Bolshaya Pokrovskaya” is held.

2000-2001

Takes part in the social and cultural projects, held as part of the regional fairs “Perm – 2000” and “Saratov – 2001”.

2001

Takes part in the working out and promotion of the Nizhny Novgorod regional bill “About charity” (became law on February 7, 2002).

2001

Takes part in the organization of the first Nizhny Novgorod Social Forum.

2001

Research is made on “The third sector of Nizhny Novgorod”, the guide and an electronic database are created.

2002

Wins the first prize in Nizhny Novgorod professional contest “PR-person of the year”.

2003

Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Charity Ball, which took place in the prestigious Coat of Arms' Hall of Nizhegorodskaya Yarmarka (Trade Fair).

2004

Establishment of the "Nizhny Novgorod Partnership Community Foundation"

2004-2006

Works on the "Local Community Self-Management Development in Volga Federal Region" project.

2006

Works on the "Polish-Russian Cooperation Bridge for Local Community Development" project.

2007

Works on the "Active Community Development Centre" and "Local Communities Leaders' Forum" projects
